About Harrison Joseph
I'm Harrison Joseph Meade Sherwood. Most people call me Harry or Harrison Joseph. The shop is named after my first two names, and it's run by me.
Harrison Joseph is a small but serious UK shop for raw perfumery materials. I'm based in Surrey, England, and I ship all over the world. There are over 800 weird and wonderful materials in the shop now, and I've smelled and written about every one of them personally.
My Story
I love creating something truly unique and came to perfume through philosophy. During my studies I noticed that almost nobody was looking at how smell actually works. That fascinated me, and I wanted to understand it.
So I went on to train with master perfumers. After that I spent years tracking down unusual fragrance materials. Harrison Joseph grew out of that naturally as people started coming to me to obtain these materials. Today I supply rare materials to perfumers all over the world, from people making their first accord to independent brands.
What's in the shop
You'll find essential oils, absolutes, CO2 extracts and aroma chemicals, from producers all over the world. I sort them by how they smell, so you can browse easily. For example, musks, florals, woods or smoke and incense. There's also a Weird section, which is exactly what it sounds like.
I look for the unusual things bigger suppliers usually skip. Rare naturals, new captives and odd aroma chemicals. But you'll also find all the standard materials you need when you're starting out.
Sizes start at 2.5ml or even smaller for super expensive ones. That way you can smell something properly before committing to a bigger bottle.
Orders
Every order is seen, packed and answered by me and my small team.
I write the scent description on every product page myself, based on how the material smells to me. I often add free samples to orders too. I pick them based on what you already use, so they're more likely to be useful.

Just starting out?
I put together a starter kit with Sam Macer of The Fragrance Foundry. It has 10ml each of 30 materials across a wide range of fragrance families.
It also comes with a bonus sample and a formula to try. It costs less than buying the same materials one by one.
