For context, actual heliotropin in crystal form can't be sold to most countries because it can be used to make illicit substances. This means that it has to be sold as a dilution or blend with other materials. 
 
This acetal of the aldehyde is the closest available molecule to the actual smell of heliotropin (Piperonal). Usefully, unlike the aldehyde, this one is also not scheduled for a ban in the coming years.
