Linalyl propionate is in many ways the perfect linalyl ester. Although based on how common it is (i.e. not very common at all) you wouldn't really think so. Linalyl acetate is the sharpest and most frequently naturally occurring linalyl ester; found in lavender, bergamot, and all sorts of naturals. The propionate ester is more rounded, longer-lasting with an intricate floralcy that makes it perfect for things like bergamot (both reproducing flowers and the fruits themselves).
When combined with linalyl isobutyrate and other citrus materials, one's palette instantly expands to almost all of the bergamot perceptual space.
