During my visit to SIMPPAR in Grasse in the Summer of 2024, I had the opportunity to get a sneak preview of Wool Absolute for the first time. From the moment I (gingerly, tbh) sniffed it I was immediately struck by how unexpectedly fruity the scent was—completely defying my expectations. I would never have guessed this was an animalic extract from a source actually quite dirty.

The best way to describe Wool Absolute is to imagine a rich, complex cognac, with faint animalic and barnyard notes lurking just out of sight, almost as if behind a wooden door. It’s so evocative of a fine cognac that, rather than presenting it as a wool extract, I found it far more compelling when framed within the context of a fruity cognac accord. - see the upcoming newsletter for just such an accord.

This wool absolute is also rather eco-friendly having travelled the relatively short pilgrimige by road from France to the UK (as opposed to completely round the world etc🤭)
