You'll recall seeing it in almost every GCMS report of almost every white floral in high amounts. 
Didst the lord put it there pointlessly? No.
 
Don't bother trying to dilute it, it's already mild and even a 10% solution in DPG will form a strange snowy slush. 
 
BUT! Update! After many trials and tribulations, it does form a stable 40% solution in Ethyl Myristate, which is a low odour long chain molecule applicable in all the same cases as whe you'd want to use Methylhexadecanoate (florals, leathers, etc)
